Brown Eyed Girl

Did you know we have a teenage daughter living in India? We've connected with Jaswanthi through a ministry called Care and Share and have been blessed to correspond and support for over a year now. Dear friends recently visited Jaswanthi and have brought with them reports of how beautiful and special she is. Smart, sensitive, intuitive, 'deep', and, like her "Mummy Vonda", has a beautiful nose worth writing home about. She wants to become a doctor. Oh - and her favorite color is green. Of course. ;-)

I get to go see pictures and video tonight...

I am confused.
You are adopting 2 girls?
She is your daughter?

Lauralynn - Jaswanthi won't be coming to live with us. She's 13 - she has some family in India (though not a mom), and needs the help of Care and Share for food and education. Ed and I are her sponsors - but in that, it's set up like a long-distance adoption. There is a close bond that forms between sponsors and children, to the point where she refers to us as 'Mummy and Daddy', and we, to her, as 'Daughter'. It's beautiful. But, no, not adoption in the same sense that we'll be adopting Eva. Thanks for requesting clarification.

How special to have that connection. Is she near Eva? Is there anyway for you two to meet with Jaswanthi or could she ever come here and meet with you?

Jaswanthi is not in the same part of India as Eva. We would love to visit Jaswanthi in the future... would have this year if our lives weren't so 'up in the air'. She can only be at the facility for three more years. I would absolutely love to have her come live here, learn English, go to college. We'll need to see what our family situation is - and hers - when that time draws nearer.
