It's typical for me to have 4 to 5 songs bopping around in my head throughout any given day. Usually, I'm not consciously aware of them, but because I've been contemplating a blog post about it, I've started to keep loose tabs on my mental jukebox. I'd love to say that all of the songs in my head are stuff like, 'Jesus Loves Me', 'Holy is the Lord', 'How Great Thou Art' and 'When We All Get to Heaven' (which are, actually, top-list inventory). Sometimes there's even a worship chorus or two - especially weeks where I'm helping lead worship. But this past week or so? Weezer's, "If you want to destroy my sweater, pull this thread as I walk a-way... watch me unravel..." OVER AND OVER (and I only know a couple lines!). The culprit? One battle with a recently-purchased rust-colored sweater that's already starting to unravel.
There, now that I've said it, the song will mysteriously move from my mental jukebox to yours... Enjoy! :-) What's playing on your internal loudspeakers? Maybe we can swap...

The song "No One" by Alicia Keys. It has a great beat and her voice is phenominal, "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt just because I love his voice too, and "Apologize" by Timberland just because I heard it so much in the TV show So You Think You Can Dance. With a dancer this song is very touching, you can feel it.
Amazing Grace- a blues rendition - every time i hit county rd F to get to work. Thanks for this Amazing Grace blog, my friend... (esp. the south pacific analogy- i loved it)
Wow, anushka... Have the house to myself tonight and just got done singing that very rendition at the top of my lungs from my perch on the couch. Just now. You must have hot-wired my jukebox... ;-)
"Open the eyes of my heart Lord"!
I've read,
By changing the words a little you can make it a prayer for those that are lost:
"Open the eyes of their hearts Lord, open the eyes of their hearts they need to see you, they need to see you"
"He Reigns" is another song that is in my head alot too.
V, thanks a LOT.
I'm going to be destroying sweaters for at least 24 hours now.
I look just like Buddy Holly, and you're my Mary Tyler Moore.
I don't remember who sings it, it's country. "International Harvester" I can't get this song out of my head!
This morning, Richard wouldn't get out of bed, so I sang the Sweater Song to him.
I tried to get him to sing along, but he insisted that he didn't know it and that I should just leave him alone.
Finally, as I gave up and walked away (as I walk away!), a little voice from under the covers said, "Blue album, toward the end."
I'm hoping it's in HIS head all day now.
Well, now 'No One' is in my head.
All the songs from Emily's and my Monday "Music Together" classes. (WONDERFUL for kids!) Here's a sample:
"I'm freezing, I'm freezing. I hope I don't start sneezing. Ah choo...ah choo. Mushy, slushy, cold and wet, snow suits and boots--is it over yet, Ah choo!...Ah choo!
But I'd have to say that the worst song I've ever had stuck in my head goes something like this:
"Soy a un perdidor...I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me." There's one for the self-esteem. And ironically, it was popular on my mission trip to Africa. One of the guys in my group played it constantly! I don't think you'd want to swap with me on that one.
Familygus--I'm with you--"No One" and "You're Beautiful" are easy ones to get stuck in your head. I like the sound of both of those, though.
KaraJo,
Now "I'm a loser, baby..." is in my head!
V, why did you have to write this post?!
KJ, Anna and I have gone to Music Together classes on and off since she was born and we LOVE them. We're not going this session but hopefully in the fall again. Those songs are the best and have prevented many a meltdown on long car trips.
When I turned on my vehicle this morning No One was on again. I'll never get it out of my head, although if I have to choose between that & the school song we learned Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me, I guess it's a toss up. I'm with you Kara jo on the children's classes they're fun!
Kara Jo - You are, hands down, the winner of the worst possible song to ever, ever get stuck in ones' head. I had to crank KTIS all the way home to get it out, and I think it's coming back again! Erin, the point was to lose an obnoxious song out of my head... Initial mission accomplished, but I swapped for a worse one!
I KNOW you guys ain't dissin on Beck in this blog . . .
I would never dis Beck.
Don't even joke about that.
V, Erin, & Ed, you guys have got me laughing so hard my stomach muscles hurt.
