Look Out, IKEA...

Here I come! The momentous day has finally arrived: I surrender my IKEA virginity in search of creative and unusual kids room furniture. Sorry, girls, this time's with my husband; appropriate, don't you think? ;-) Wish us good hunting!

What's your favorite IKEA find?

I love IKEA. I think you & Ed
shopping for Eva's room is just one of the special moments you'll share together as parents. Adam & I had fun doing the room up, painting, and just all around making it special. Good Luck finding all you need!!!

I miss IKEA. I loved getting a few of the room decorators for my friends daughter. I picked up a couple of the big leaves. I don't know if they still have them.

Rob - they still do have the big leaves - saw them today... If we were doing any kind of jungle or rain-forest theme, they'd be up in a second! Maybe when #2 comes along... ;-)

For anyone who's wondering what I thought of IKEA, love LOVE LOVE it! There's a lot of people there, but it's a big place - and SUCH fun ideas for decorating... Plus, it's super cheap, and there's food. ;-) We got a bed, mattress, shelving, rugs and a TON of other little inspirational items, including the orange and green stuffed turtle of happiness. :-) Still need a beanbag though...

Sounds like a productive day! What fun! You didn't mention a dresser. Did you find one of those? Tried to call you today just to find out how the search went, but couldn't get you even on the cell. You must have really been into the shopping and eating! Glad you had a fun day. Can't wait to see what you found. Mom

Mom - we've gotten strangely practical... We decided to put the (plain) dresser we have inside the closet and all clothes will come out of there. Leaves more play-space in the room as a whole; perhaps enough for a beanbag and child's chair... :-)

We probably have 2 or 3 Saturdays to go... painting, putting together furniture, etc. Especially since the loft bedroom will now convert to the guest bedroom (we have the double up there!). It's all coming together now though... we have the vision - and the itch to work on it!

Ikea is so wonderful- the problem is that we discovered it only after we could afford to buy whatever we want, which is years after we actually needed anything anymore...

Oh, to have a reason to shop- Eva is such a fun blessing.

Sounds like a great idea, Vonda! Can't wait to see it all come together. You are in the nesting stage now and it has really kicked in . Now things will really happen. Ha! Love ya! Mom

Can't wait to see what you got!

Some of my IKEA faves...a rectangular vase, an outlined pillow that looks like a paint-by-numbers, a froggy scoop bib (not for me) colorful plastic plates/cups/cutlery sets for kids, our bedroom nightstands that were really bathroom cabinets.
