Toys & Trends I Never 'Got'

So, lately, I'm thinking about Eva being home next Christmas and the difference that will make in the number - and type - of gifts under our tree. That got me thinking about the toys and trend items that I might have gotten through the years... but just didn't 'get'. KnowwhatImean?

-Gumby
-Michael Jackson
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-ALF
-Monchichis

-Santa Bears
-Boy George
-Weebles
-Garbage Pail Kids
-Max Headroom

-Teddy Ruxpin
-Inspector Gadget
-Garbage Pail Kids
-Hans & Franz
-Hello Kitty

-Easy Bake Ovens
-Mullets
-Trolls
-Madonna
-He-Man

-Punky Brewster
-Barney
-Q-Bert
-Rainbow Brite
-Pee Wee's Playhouse

Tomorrow's list? Toys I DID get - and loved. How about you? What toys did you hope Santa would keep to himself?

My kids just got the easy bake oven out. Thanks for the Monchichi song that will now play in my head all day long!:)

Yes, Garbage Pail Kids are on the list twice. That should tell you something.

I was super into Garbage Pail Kids. They had the humor element, the gross-out element (for late elementary school boys), and also a subversive element, as they were outlawed where I went to middle school (that's right, New Life).

Ed - apparently, we should have discussed Garbage Pail Kids much earlier in our relationship...

Swampy, this site is linked to the FCC site. Offensive! ;-)

Any kind of doll that, well, leaked. What's up with that? Never had a a need for those. The Easy Bake Oven on the other hand was a toy I HAD. TO. HAVE. Used it twice and never touched it again.

Light Brite. Loved it. What do you do with the light box and translucet pegs when the paper patterns are all used up?

Lite Brite's the BEST! Watch for tomorrow's post: toys we 'got'... :-)

I do have a confession. I watched He-Man and there were no brothers in my house. "By the power of Grey-Skull....I.Have.The.Power!"

I feel better now.

LOL, Katie! :-) My version of that was, "Wonder twin powers: ACTIVATE!" or Dukes of Hazzard: "Yeeeehaaaaw!"

?What is offensive about clothes?

My favorite was the Easy Bake Oven. I baked little cakes & cookies all the time until one fateful time a friend & I ate a whole lot of the cookies & were sooo sick. I don't think I ever baked again. One of the ones that I really wanted & didn't get was He-Man I think I got a Rainbow Bright instead. So Sad. :(

A groovy early to mid 1970's Panasonic "TNT" plunger 8 track player.
1969 Crissy Doll Orange Mini Dress HAIR GROWS LONG
Have you even heard of these V?
These were a couple of my favorites, just in case I miss tomorrows post. Can't think of anything I didn't like at the moment.

Groovy - you lost me on the plunger 8 track player (what I'm picturing here can't ever have been invented); cassette tapes were up and rolling by the time I came around.

But I think some of my cousins might have had dolls with growing hair; wonder if those were Crissy dolls...? Thanks for sharing! :-)

V-Thank goodness. I was like- Oh, not again! Something is wrong with clothes? Can I say nothing?! Haha-
Feels like walking on ice- Glad it's an inside joke with Swampy-L.

Groovy- My sister and I had a Chrissy doll with the orange mini dress and orange boots. She had a dial on her Navel to adjust her hair length. She was among my favorites too.
