"At some point in life, each of us must walk to the head of the long, rectangular board room table of our mind and successfully provide firm leadership and direction..." Here is where I share my point of view from the Director's Seat.

Priceless
1 package of size 2T-3T Huggies Pull-Ups: $14.99.
1st-ever purchase of Pull-Ups in preparation for long-awaited daughter: Priceless.
Pull-ups I used in training & then I ended up using them mainly for at night for the just in case until I was sure. Karlie ended up being pretty easy. We gave her a dolly that we would take to the potty (mommy would sneakily pour water in behind so it seemed like the baby was going), Karlie got interested pretty fast. I also set out a potty chair in our kitchen and let her run around in the buff for awhile (couple accidents & panicing by her to get to the potty). She like that too. Also, buying the big girl panties with princesses, Dora, etc. were a big hit. Rewards are a big thing too. She loved her Emenemens (M&Ms). All these little stages with children are so much fun! It makes me smile to think about it.
Jennifer - great window into the world of potty-training! My friend, Jen, has also found a dolly to be very useful in training.
Both - our understanding is that Eva is already fully trained - has been for some time (they do it early there; lot's of kids). But we've been told it's common for kids to revert through such a traumatic transition. Plus, a 20 hour plane ride and serious language barrier make for good reasons to prepare for 'just in case'. We'll pack multiple outfits for her, but want to avoid having to go through too many of those if at all possible. :-)
Karlie started having accidents again after we had Tanner. It was a few months of adjusting and then she was OK again. 20 hr plane ride, Eeeeek. I don't know what I would do for that long on a plane for entertainment. I always bring Karlie's DVD player along, color books, and lots of books. This lasts a few hours (just keep rotating).:) I love this though, you're all ready for motherhood packing your 'just in case' bag. Every mommy has one.
How fun. I am so excited for you!! I bet you never thought you would be happy about buying an item in which people poop in. Parenting does funny stuff to you. Diaper talk is only the beginning!!
How exciting to be buying pull ups!! Lydia has been potty trained for awhile. She wore pull ups at night until about a month ago!! Now back to diapers with little Daniel.
Some ideas of what to bring on the plane for a three year old from our travel experience....
-plain white computer paper -washable markers -foamy sticker (sold at Micheal's) -Color Wonder coloring books -small bag of fruit loops and some yarn to make necklaces to wear and eat (and Yes Ed has to wear one to) -some sort of peel and stick reusable sticker board that she can create scenes and then take them off and do it again..I can't think of exactly what they are called -lift and flap books with lots of flaps to lift up and find different things -maybe some sort of little "Polly Pocket" set with a few dolls and dresses that you can store all the pieces in a little bag...if you don't know what "Polly Pockets" are yet...you soon will...they are very small, only a few inches and they have little clothes to change them into (I now spend time every day picking little Polly pocket shoes and skirts of the floor so Daniel doesn't eat them!!)
I will let you know if I remember anything else!!!
As I remember from our travels...we had 4 large suitcases all maxed out on the weight limit...plus the carry ons. You will definitely want to fit in as much as possible...and definitely same some new stuff for the plane.

Yippee! How do they do potty training? Are the pull-ups for training, or "just in case"?
